Become a Coach - Interested in Coaching?
Charleswood Youth Soccer Association (CYSA) Coaching
Requirements and Screening process as per CYSA policy, all team officials for teams ages U9 years and to U18, coaches and coaching personnel are required to complete a number of items including a Criminal Police Information Check (PIC) with vulnerable sector and a Child Abuse Registry Search (CARS).
These requirements are mandatory as per the MSA Rules and Regulations 1.12, and WYSA Rules and Regulations section 2.4.
It is the coach responsibility to contact CYSA well in advance of the season to make sure that the appropriate documentation is complete. New and returning team officials should read the following documents to determine what applies for the upcoming season.
The following are screening requirements for all U9-U18 CYSA Soccer Team officials:
- Photo
- For new coaches and for an expired or replacement Coaches Card
- Good for up to 3 years dependent on screening and RIS expiration date
- Send photo (selfies work well) with first and last name to: facilitator@charleswoodsoccer.com
- The programs facilitator will crop and size the photo for to fit on the card.
- A Completed registration
- Complete the age Appropriate Coaching Course
- Respect in Sport (RIS) for Activity Leaders
- Child Abuse Registry Search (CARS)
- We happily accept copies of valid CARS, completed for other purposes
- Good for 3 years from date of issue
- Request a form from our programs faciliator
- Once filled out and signed, please send (Scan/Photo/Mailed) to programs.facilitator@charleswoodsoccer.com or PO Box 21002 Winnipeg, MB R3R 3R2 for validation and submission to MB Family Services
6. Criminal Record Search - Please read directions below
City of Winnipeg Police information Check
Option a) Apply as part of your coach registration
- This is for City of Winnipeg residents only.
- When completing your online coach registration check the box: I would like to complete an Enhanced Online Police Information Check (Criminal Record Check).
- Follow the directions as provided
Option b) Winnipeg Police Service - Electronic Police Information Check (PIC)
- This is for City of Winnipeg residents only.
- Go to: ca
- Click the button: Perform Personal Police Information Check
- Select ‘Volunteer’, when asked: What are you applying for?
- Enter ‘Charleswood Youth Soccer Association’, when asked: What agency are you applying for?
- Make a note your username and password, as you will need these again later.
- Submit your receipt to treasurer@charleswoodsoccer.comand CYSA will refund you this expense.
- After a few days, you should receive an email that describes your next steps for PIC. The next steps will be one of the following:
Your PIC results are ready
- Go to: winnipeg.ca
- Click the red button: Login With Existing Account, and share the results with Charleswood Youth Soccer Association
In Person Identification must be provided
- Go to: winnipeg.ca
- Click the red button: Login With Existing Account, and share the results with Charleswood Youth Soccer Association
- You must go to the Winnipeg Police Service headquarters downtown, and present identification documents in person.
- A few days after proving your identity, you should receive an email that your PIC results are ready.

Fingerprinting is required
- You must go to the Winnipeg Police Service headquarters downtown, for fingerprinting.
- You must initially pay the Winnipeg Police Service fingerprinting fee (approx. $70). Keep your receipts. Afterwards, CYSA will re-imburse you.
- A few days after being finger printed, you should receive an email that your PIC results are ready.
- Go to: winnipeg.ca
- Click the red button: Login With Existing Account, and share the results with Charleswood Youth Soccer Association
RCMP - Vulnerable Sector Check
- This is for non-Winnipeg residents only.
- The fee is waived because this is a volunteer position, but proof of this must be provided.
- Email facilitator@charleswoodsoccer.comto receive a letter that waives the RCMP fee.
- Visit your local RCMP Branch and request a Vulnerable Sector Check
- If the RCMP charges a fee that cannot be waived, please submit a copy of the receipt to treasurer@charleswoodsoccer.com and CYSA will refund you this expense.
